The summer's dry heat has resulted in severe drought conditions for Mid- Missouri farmers.

A panel of experts will be talking to local farmers at a conference today to help them manage and prepare for the drought harvest.

The first conference of the day is from 9-11am  at the Cooper County Fairgrounds in the Youth Ag Building. There is a second chance to catch the discussions from 2-4pm at the Montgomery City Library.

Dr. Rob Kallenbach, University of Missouri Forage Specialist will be discussing nitrates in corn and how it affects feed and cattle.

Jody Foutch, Monsanto Field Advisor, will be in Boonville and Steve Troesser, Channel Hybrids Field Agronomist, will be in Montgomery City to discuss nutrient retention in the failed crops.

Chris Finck, Show Me Shortline, will be talking about the mechanics of silage production and rationing.

Mark Wieland, Sydenstricker Implement Company, will discuss combine setup and adjustment for a lower yield harvest.

These experts will be there to give tips for these historically dry conditions and making the most of local crops.
