BOONE COUNTY -- Boone county deputies have seized several items from a convenience store believed to be controlled substances or simulated controlled substances.

Deputies served a search warrant at Mari's Convenience Store on East Prathersville Rd. as the store was closing at midnight Monday.

They said about two years ago the store started devoting a significant portion of retail space to the sale of synthetic marijuana, so-called bath salts, stimulant pills, and drug paraphernalia.

Recently, the store has been the scene of several burglaries and robberies believed to be related to the presence and sale of those items.

As of Tuesday morning, no arrests had been made.

Evidence seized included a large quantity of substances believed to contain a controlled substance.
