Bank robber sentenced to federal prison

JEFFERSON CITY, MO. -- A Rockaway Beach man was sentenced in federal court Monday for six robberies, two of which occurred in Columbia and Sedalia.

Kenneth Parker was sentenced to eight years and four months in federal prison without parol. The 49-year-old was also ordered to pay $22,362 in restitution.

Parker pleaded guily on July 30, 2012, to several separate federal indictments. He admitting to stealing $2,500 from US Bank in Columbia on Sept. 3, 2010, and $9,150 from Union Savings Bank in Sedalia on Sept. 21, 2010. These were charged in an indictment returned by a federal grand jury in Jefferson City on Nov. 2, 2010.

Two other cases, to which Parker also pleaded guilty, were transferred to the Western District of Missouri. From the District of Oregon, he admitted to stealing $3,585 from Libery Bank in Eugene on July 30, 2010, $2,203 from Umpqua Bank in Salem on Aug. 17, 2010, and $2,385 from Key Bank in Portland on Aug. 23, 2010. From the Northern District of Iowa, he admitted to robbing Bank of the West in Cedar Rapids on Aug. 31, 2010.

These cases were prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jim Lynn. The case in the Western District of Missouri was investigated by the FBI, the Columbia, Mo., Police Department, the Sedalia, Mo., Police Department, the University City, Mo., Police Department, the Brentwood, Mo., Police Department and the Taney County, Mo., Sheriff's Department.
