Authorities had been monitoring the residence for criminal activity since a shooting on Halloween

A 41-year-old Columbia resident was arrested during the execution of a search warrant Wednesday morning at 4380 Southview Drive. The residence searched was the scene of a shooting on October 31, which authorities believe was connected to narcotics sales and other criminal activity. No one was injured in the incident.

Boone County Sheriff's Department served the search warrant after an investigation monitoring criminal activity at the residence. Authorities found a stolen motor scooter, a small amount of cocaine, evidence of marijuana distribution and a shotgun they believe was obtained through a drug transaction.

The 41 year old, Lonnie Avant, was arrested for felony receiving stolen property, unlawful possession of a firearm and distribution of a controlled substance.
