3 new charter schools planned in St. Louis

(AP) -- ST. LOUIS (AP) -- St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay says three new charter schools will open in the city starting next August.

Slay announced the new schools Thursday. They bring to 18 the number of new charter schools since Slay's office launched a revised screening process five years ago.

The new schools are Lafayette Preparatory Academy, EAGLE College Prep Endeavor and Gateway Science Academy of St. Louis-South.
