Residents of Auxvasse need to be careful about their water usage.

The city has issued a "conserve water" order, so people need to refrain from filling swimming pools, watering lawns and flowers, taking long showers, leaving the faucet running while brushing teeth, washing vehicles and any other activities that use water.

The pump in the city's water tower stopped working on Wednesday, so no new water is being pumped into the tower. At the time this story was published, only about two days worth of water was left for usage.

The current water pressure reading is about 40 PSI. If that falls to 20 PSI or less, the city will have to issue a boil order.

Water use and demand will continue to be monitored closely by officials.
