JEFFERSON CITY -- Inauguration day in Missouri is on Monday, January 14.

Governor Jay Nixon and First Lady Georganne Nixon will begin the day with a worship service at 8:30 a.m at the First Baptist Church in Jefferson City.

At 10 a.m. the traditional inaugural parade will begin near the front of the Missouri River Regional Library and will make its way to the Capitol. 

Several high school marching bands, mascots and elected officials from across the state will be parading through the streets of the Capital City.

After the parade, at 11:15 a.m., Governor Nixon, along with statewide elected officials, will be officially sworn in on the south lawn of the Capitol.

Lt. Col. Regina Kilmer of the Missouri National Guard will sing the National Anthem and Rabbi Amy Felder of Temple Israel in St. Louis will deliver the invocation.

Following the Nineteen Gun Salute by President Harry Truman's 129th Field Artillery Regiment, Gov. Nixon will deliver the inaugural address as the 55th Governor of Missouri. From 1:30-3:30 p.m., well wishers can go to the Governor's Mansion for a public greeting.

If you get hungry throughout the day, for four hours starting at 1:30 p.m., you can enjoy barbeque at the Missouri Barbeque Showcase and Reception at the Capitol Plaza Hotel.

The festivities will conclude with the Grand March and Inaugural Ball in the Capitol Rotunda.
