Money raised will buy Christmas gifts for kids

IBERIA -- An Iberia bar raised money for kids Saturday - but in a very unusual way.

The male staff at the Hard Times Bar and Grill donned dresses, lipstick and eyeliner.

All the money raised, including tips, will go to buy Christmas presents for kids whose parents can't afford them this year.

Customers snapped pictures as waiters poured drinks and served food in a different type of uniform: colorful dresses, hair curlers and blonde wigs.

"Most of the guys here have got a lot bigger tips," said Sonya Carmack, the bar's co-owner. "I know two or three of them's got $20 and $50 tips. Nobody's used to seeing them in dresses. And they're not used to wearing 'em."

The staff raised $1500 Saturday.
