JEFFERSON CITY, MO. -- A woman is in University Hospital today after a car accident in Jefferson City Friday afternoon.

Officers were called to a crash on the 1600 block of Christy Drive at 3:51 p.m.

Upon arrival they found Emily Beul, the driver of a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier, unconcious and unresponsive in her car.

Carter Roberts, the driver of the other car involved, told officers that he was driving his Ford F150 northbound when Beul pulled out directly in front of him from a parking lot.

Roberts said he tried to brake and avoid Beul's car, but was unable to do so.

Beul was taken to Capital Region Medical Center and then flown to University Hospital.

She was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The Jefferson City Police Department’s Traffic Section is investigating.
