COLUMBIA -- A Columbia man was arrested late Tuesday night after authorities found methamphetamine inside his hotel room.

Boone County Sheriff's deputies said they got a search warrant for the Candlewood Suites, in the 3100-block of Wingate Court, after a citizen complained of illegal drug activity.

Deputies found two people inside the hotel room along with other items which indicated active and regular use of meth.

Timothy Hyde, 39, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.

The second person was not immediately arrested because of medical reasons.

Candlewood Suites released the following statement Wednesday afternoon:

"The Candlewood Suites® Columbia holds the safety, comfort and well-being of our guests and employees as our top priority and concern. The hotel team will continue to cooperate fully with authorities in their investigation."
