Former Missouri congressman Ike Skelton will speak Wednesday to aspiring politicians and other students in the University of Missouri's Truman School of Public Affairs.
The Democrat spent 34 years in the U.S. House, even chairing the House Armed Services Committee from 2007 through 2010. That's when he lost the general election to Republican Vicky Hartzler.
Skelton now lobbies in Washington for the Missouri law firm of Husch Blackwell and serves on the advisory board of the Center for New American Security.
