A Holts Summit man is facing multiple charges after he attempted to burglarize a home outside Fulton early Sunday morning.

Nelson Barnes has been charged with burglary in the first degree, felony property damage and stealing.

Deputies were called to the home on State Road O at 1:33 a.m. When they arrived, they saw that the home owner had Barnes at gun point.

Authorities say that Barnes entered the home by forcing open two doors. When the home owner announced that he had a gun, Barnes went outside and started rifling through two vehicles.

Barnes allegedly stated that he was looking for a gun. He also took a purse from a vehicle parked outside.

At the time of his arrest, Barnes had a failure to appear warrant for receiving stolen property.

Bond was set at $90,000.
