A 34-year-old Cole County man has died from injuries he sustained after falling nearly 30 feet from a Jefferson City building in the middle of the night last week.

Police don't know what James Schepers was doing on the rooftop or why he fell, so they're asking for the public's help. Anyone with information should call CrimeStoppers at 659-TIPS.

Authorities were alerted when someone called to report a "disturbance." They found the injured man while checking out rooftop access areas. The man fell into an inaccessible area late Monday night or very early Tuesday morning. The fire department had to break open a business door to reach him.

After authorities reached the man, he was taken by ambulance to an area hospital before being life-flighted to Columbia's University Hospital.

So far, officials have not found anyone who saw or heard anything before or during the fall.

The incident, which is considered suspicious, occurred in the 300 block of Monroe Street.
