(AP) -- DEXTER, Mo. (AP) -- Authorities say a southeastern Missouri man was killed accidentally when he was shot while duck hunting.

Stoddard County Sheriff Carl Hefner says 32-year-old Robert Marler of Poplar Bluff was hunting Monday morning with at least one other person in a boat near Dexter when he was wounded in the shoulder and neck area by a shotgun blast.

Marler later died at a Cape Girardeau hospital.

Authorities are investigating.
