(AP) -- CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) -- Authorities in southeast Missouri are investigating a shooting death at a Cape Girardeau nightclub.

The Southeast Missourian reports that the Cape Girardeau County/Bollinger County Major Case Squad was activated early Sunday to investigate the fatal shooting.

Police say 32-year-old Nicholas Gilbert of Sikeston, was found shot inside the nightclub and was pronounced dead later by Cape Girardeau County Coroner John Clifton.
