(AP) -- JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Republican Missouri congressman Todd Akin is seeking money for his Senate campaign bills while highlighting what he describes as offensive remarks by actor and comedian Jamie Foxx.

Akin distributed a fundraising email Thursday with a video clip of Foxx speaking at the Soul Train Music Awards earlier this month. Foxx urged the audience to "give an honor to God, and our lord and savior Barack Obama."

For Christians, the titles "lord" and "savior" typically are reserved for Jesus.

Akin called Foxx's comment an "appalling" example of how "Christian values are being mocked." He pledged to continue "speaking out about the problems facing our country" and asked for $10 donations to help pay his campaign bills.

Akin lost to Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill in the Nov. 6 election.
