The Columbia fire department is investigating a fire at Champion Auto Parts on Business Loop 70 happening just after 9:00 p.m. Wednesday.

When responders arrived at the scene there was heavy fire and smoke coming from the back of the business.

Fire Marshal Brad Frazier said firefighters were able to contain damage to Champion Auto Parts, but surrounding businesses sustained some smoke damage.

Power lines surrounding the area were shut off to make it safer for crews to fight the fire.

No one was inside the building when fire broke out.
