JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- October is Breast Cancer awareness month, and although it's drawing to an end, people are still finding plenty of opportunities to show their pink pride.

Heads Up Spa and Salon on Missouri Boulevard in Jefferson City hosted the first annual Run for Victory 5K. Participants could either run or walk the 3.1-mile course.

Organizers say they always do something this time of year for breast cancer, but this year, they stepped it up a notch.

"We always do a fundraiser of some sort,“ said Emily Meldrem, one of the co-owners of Heads Up. “Most of the time we do pink strips or something like that, but we decided to bigger and better this year,so that's when we decided to go ahead and start the 5k run/walk."

After the race, participants were treated to pink cupcakes.

The proceeds from Run for Victory benefited breast cancer awareness.
