(AP) -- SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) -- A chemical spill at a Springfield factory that makes French's mustard has sent three people to a hospital with minor injuries.
The Springfield News-Leader reports that the spill happened Thursday morning.
Assistant Fire Chief David Pennington blamed the injuries on sodium hydroxide, an agent commonly used for industrial cleaning. He says early reports suggested as many as 20 people might have come in contact with the corrosive chemical. But only three required decontamination and treatment for minor extremity burns.
A ruptured pipe is blamed for causing the spill.
