Jefferson City police look into shots fired case

Authorities received multiple calls from people reporting the incident

Several people called Jefferson City police late Monday night after hearing shots fired near the 700 block of washington and 200 block of West Ashley.

Authorities found several shell casings and determined that two people exchanged gunfire behind homes in the 200 block of West Ashley. No witnesses could or would identify the shooters.

Officers had been in the area earlier for reports of a loud group of people. Those individuals were leaving when police arrived.

The shots fired investigation is ongoing.
