(AP) -- LAMAR, Mo. (AP) -- The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a former southwest Missouri police officer shot and killed his wife and critically injured her mother before killing himself.
The patrol says 32-year-old Landon L. Ison shot his wife, 33-year-old Dana I. Ison, early Tuesday at a home about a mile southwest of Lamar. He was a former Lamar police officer and a dispatcher with the Barton County Sheriff's office.
Dana Ison's mother, 67-year-old Cheryl J. Thompson, of Lamar, was in critical condition with a gunshot wound. Two young boys in the house were not injured.
Officers found Landon Ison dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in a field about four miles north of Lamar.
