A Columbia man is in police custody after refusing to surrender to authorities Monday night.

Warren Washington locked himself inside his house on Oxford Drive when police arrived at about 8 p.m. with multiple felony warrants.

Officers surrounded the house and issued a code red for the SWAT team to respond.

Authorities kept trying to convince Washington to come out of the house. His mother even called him.

He surrendered just as SWAT team members started arriving on the scene at 1:48 a.m.

Washington faces felony charges for felon handgun possession, narcotics violation and probation violation along with a misdemeanor for theft and sale.
