JEFFERSON CITY -- Jefferson City Police arrested two men after a home burglary.
Police said at about 4:00 p.m. Monday a homeowner in the 900-block of Moreau Drive and several other witnesses arrived at the home and saw a man standing in the back yard and another crawling out from underneath the garage door.
The suspects ran away but officers later found two men matching their descriptions on Dockery Street.
Police arrested 42-year-old Willie Dee Howard and 20-year-old Matthew Robert Koenigsfeld.
Officers said the men had cut all of the copper water lines in the basement of the home on Moreau Drive and had damaged the water line, which was spilling water into the basement.
Police are requesting Howard be charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Burglar’s Tools, and Burglary in the Second Degree.
He is currently on probation for a conviction in a previous burglary.
Authorities are requesting the prosecutor charge Koenigsfeld with Possession of Burglar’s Tools and Second Degree Burglary.
Both men are in the Cole County jail awaiting charges.
