A meth lab was discovered in the basement of a home in California, Mo., on Tuesday.

Officers with the Mid-Missouri Drug Task Force, California Police Department and Moniteau County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at the residence located at 304 South East Street. Drug Task Force officers were conducting an investigation into multiple suspicious purchases of pseudoephedrine purchases by the occupants of the residence.

While searching the home, an active methamphetamine lab was found in the basement.

Approximately eight ounces of methamphetamine was recovered, along with chemicals and drug paraphernalia that are associated with the use and manufacture of methamphetamine.

Randall Potter, 50, was arrested at the scene. Potter was then charged with manufacture of a controlled substance, a class B felony, and first degree drug trafficking, a class A felony.

Potter is currently being held at the Moniteau County Jail. No bond has been set in this case. Potter is currently employed by the Missouri Department of Corrections.

Additional suspects are being sought for questioning and the investigation is ongoing.
