Two members of a Missouri search and rescue team are helping with the federal response to Hurricane Isaac.

Homeland Security officials deployed Missouri Task Force 1 members Les Crews and Dave Weber on Monday night.

Crews and Weber are working with an incident support team at the Alexandria, Louisiana International Airport.

They plan to inspect buildings, identify hazardous structures and assist with rescue missions.

Weber said it’s hard to play the waiting game until his assistance is needed.

Weber said, “It can be rough right at first when you can see the event unfolding on the news and no one has really asked for your assistance.  That could change in one minute.  We just wait right now until we’re needed.”

Missouri Task Force 1 officials said Crews and Weber are the only two members of their team helping with Hurricane Isaac at this time.

The entire team is on standby and waiting for federal officials to decide on any further deployments.
