Stolen car crashes in Osage Beach

The driver had been drinking

An intoxicated Osage Beach man crashed a stolen car very early Tuesday morning.

At about 1:03 am, the Osage Beach Police Department received a call about a crash in the area of the 4800 block of Osage Beach Parkway. While en route, officers found the vehicle, a red 2001 Honda Civic Coupe, at the east end of the Grand Glaize bridge. 
 
The car appeared to have been going eastbound when it was driven onto the paved shoulder, striking the concrete traffic barrier. The vehicle continued eastbound, crossing both lanes of traffic, before striking the adjacent guard rail. The vehicle continued eastbound, again crossing both lanes of eastbound traffic, striking the inside concrete barrier. It then continued eastbound a short distance and come to rest with the left side of the vehicle against the barrier. 
 
The driver, 31-year-old Brian Born, had been at a local drinking establishment and took the car from the bar’s parking lot. 

Born has been charged with: 
Tampering with a Motor Vehicle, 1st Degree
Operating a Motor Vehicle while in an Intoxicated Condition
  
He is being held in the Camden County Jail on a bond of $5,000 cash and $4,000 surety
