A 15-year-old Columbia murder suspect appeared before a judge for this first time this afternoon through a video feed from the Boone County Jail.

Authorities said Lamar Terrell Mayfield murdered Bryan Rankin, 17, this past April.

On Friday, a judge certified Mayfield as an adult and prosecutors charged him with second degree murder and armed criminal action.

On Monday, a public defender took Mayfield’s case and a judge increased his bond to from $200,000 to $500,000 cash only.

Mayfield is being held in the Boone County Jail.
