A Jefferson City fourth grader gave teachers quite a scare Monday morning when he went missing.

David Luther, with Jefferson City Public Schools, says a student at Moreau Heights Elementary was told to go to the resource room, but he never showed up there.

When staff realized he was missing, they searched the grounds for an hour before calling the police.

They eventually learned the student boarded a bus with a group of accelerated students to go to Southwest Early Childhood Center for the first day of Explore, Enrich, Research (EER).

Police pinged the student's phone, found him at Southwest and reunited him with his mother.

A letter is going home with all Moreau Heights students today explaining the situation.
