Southwest Missouri authorities are investigating two reports of possible attempts at child abductions.

The Springfield News-Leader reports that the Taney County Sheriff's Office says the first incident was reported Saturday near Kirbyville.

The department says a man and woman in a blue minivan pulled up to a home where children were playing and apparently tried to lure the children to the van by asking if they'd seen their dog.

Sheriff Jimmie Russell says on the department's website that the second incident occurred later Saturday near Taneyville when the department received a call that a child walking along a road was approached by a woman driving a blue minivan.

The woman asked the child if he'd seen her dog and again tried unsuccessfully to get the child into the van.
