He broke a window and tangled with deputies before being secured again
A man arrested for driving a stolen vehicle and giving a false ID to police later tried to escape from the Maries County Sheriff's Office.
A deputy stopped a vehicle Friday afternoon on Highway 63 North, in front of the Break Time in Vienna City limits.
The deputy discovered the car was stolen from a tow yard in Phelps Count and the driver was arrested.
The driver then provided false identifying information to Sheriff’s Deputies, but was later identified as 19-year-old Cole Woodward of St. James.
While at the Sheriff’s Office, Woodward tried to escape the jail facility and kicked out a window in the court house. After a brief struggle, deputies took custody of Woodward and he was secured in jail.
Woodward was charged with two counts of attempted escape from custody while under arrest for a felony, property damage in the second degree and false impersonation.
Woodward may have additional charges out of Phelps County for the stolen truck.
He remains in the Maries County Jail on a $25,000 bond.
