School bells are about to start going off around Mid-Missouri.

Summer is over and the halls will soon be full of students.

Teachers like Becky Hulsey at Belair Elementary in Jefferson City are putting the finishing touches on their classrooms, but her main concern is for her new students, "The first thing is getting a really good night sleep and trying to get back into routine."

She told us going from summer fun, to the classroom can sometimes be an adjustment, "It's a long day again and stuff for the kids come back so they need to rested and well fed to start their day off."

In her second grade classroom she stresses, structure, and a schedule for the best learning environment.

For some parents the first day of school can be just as daunting as it is for the student, “I guess I have the usual butterflies." Tom O'Brien said.

O'Brien's son is starting kindergarten, so he and his wife stopped by a few days early to scope it out, "Just some one-on-one personal time, learning who his principal is, and teachers and things like that."

They hope the quick meet and greet will make things easier come Thursday.

After all, the goal here is to make everyone a success.
