Police have a suspect in custody
CAMDENTON, MO. -- Updated, August 14 at 3:35 p.m.:
When deputies arrived, they found a male juvenile behind the home on a deck. He told deputies he had chased someone into the wooded area behind the home. Deputies and Highway Patrol personnel began a search of the wooded area for the suspect.
While the search was being conducted, detectives began to process the crime scene and conduct interviews. While doing so, evidence was recovered which identified the male juvenile as the shooter in the incident.
The 16-year-old was turned over to the Camden County Juvenile Authorities.
The victim is currently stable in a Springfield hospital.

A 40-year-old man called police early Monday morning, saying he had been shot.
Deputies responded at about 1:07 a.m. to the 1200 block of Possum Hollow Drive.
The man was transported to a medical facility and is in stable condition awaiting surgery.
Following a joint investigation between the Camden County Sheriff’s Office, Missouri State Highway Patrol and Juvenile Authorities, a suspect was identified and taken into custody.
The investigation is ongoing.
