(AP) -- WEST PLAINS, Mo. (AP) -- Volunteers and law enforcement officers have removed more than 100 dogs, cats, chickens and other animals from a south-central Missouri home.
Howell County sheriff's officers describe cages stacked on top of each other inside the home with no food or water bowls.
Personnel from the Missouri Department of Agriculture also took part in removing the animals Thursday morning. The rescued animals also included rabbits, a skunk, a donkey and a horse.
The owner of the rural home says she had essentially been forced into taking in other people's animals.
Missouri's Texas County Animal Shelter is caring for some of the animals and will be putting them up for adoption.
