A Holts Summit teen is in serious condition this morning after a crash in Jefferson City.

16-year old Brittany Wolfe is in serious condition at University hospital.

Jefferson City police say at about 10:45 last night Wolfe was driving Eastbound on Highway 50 between the 179 exit and Dix road when her car went off the left side of the road.

That's when police say she over-corrected causing her to run off the right side of the road and hit an embankment.

Wolfe was thrown from her car.

Police say Wolfe was not wearing a seat belt.

She was taken to a local hospital and later flown by helicopter to University hospital in Columbia.

Highway 50 Eastbound between 179 and Dix road was shut down for a couple of hours while crews responded to the crash.
