The Missouri Department of Conservation is encouraging home owners and other people to water and mulch their trees for the remainder of this summer.
They say that by doing so, you are actually helping your property stay healthy because a watered tree can help shade areas like sidewalk and buildings.
More importantly, they say that by watering and mulching your trees, you are fighting heat stress that may develop on the trees as a result of the direct heat and sunlight.
They say that by mulching your tree, you are helping retain that moisture to where it can be used by the trees.
The Missouri Department of Conservation adds that the wild climate swings in recent years have made the trees more susceptible to heat stress.
