(AP) -- PHOENIX (AP) -- A former Missouri man now living in Arizona has been sentenced to eight months in federal prison for income tax evasion and ordered to pay almost $85,000 restitution.
Internal Revenue Service authorities in Phoenix announced Monday that 60-year-old James H. Caler will be on supervised release for three years after serving his prison term.
Caler formerly lived in Branson, Mo., and now resides in Tempe, Ariz. He's scheduled to surrender to authorities Sept. 10 and start his sentence.
Investigators say Caler hadn't filed income tax returns since the late 1980s and tried to hide his income from the IRS through the use of fictitious names and companies.
For the tax years 2005 through 2009, prosecutors say Caler owes a total of $84,683. Caler pleaded guilty in December 2010.
