(AP) -- JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon now has received more than 10,000 messages urging him to sign or veto legislation related to health insurance coverage for contraception.
Nixon has scheduled a Thursday news conference to announce his action on legislation. That comes a couple days ahead of a Saturday deadline for him to sign, veto or allow bills to become law without his signature.
The health insurance measure passed by the Republican-led Legislature takes a shot at President Barack Obama's health care policies.
It states that employers and health plan providers cannot be compelled to cover contraception, sterilization or abortion if that runs contrary to their religious or moral beliefs.
The bill also allows the attorney general to sue government officials or others who infringe on the rights granted in the measure.
