A Jefferson City man is in custody after an overnight shooting.

Around 2:30 Friday morning, officers were dispatched to the 1900 block of Saratoga Drive for a shooting.

Officers found the victim in the street with a gunshot wound to the face. 40-year-old Darren D. Carter was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital by ambulance and then flown to University Hospital. The wound to the Jefferson City resident does not seem to be life threatening.

34-year-old Terrell Williams was arrested for assault and armed criminal action.

Police think the incident started as a domestic disturbance and escalated into a shooting.

The investigation continues.
