(AP) -- NEOSHO, Mo. (AP) -- A 7-year-old southwest Missouri boy is dead and his 4-year-old sister was in stable condition at an area hospital after a fire broke out in the family's mobile home.
Neosho Fire Chief Mike Eads says firefighters were called to the single-wide trailer around 2 a.m. Thursday and found the two children were still inside the rural Neosho home.
Eads says the family dog woke up the parents, who escaped through a bedroom window. Firefighters found 7-year-old Liam Lane and his sister, Sandra, in a bedroom they shared, both suffering from smoke inhalation.
Liam died at a Neosho hospital, while Sandra was taken to a hospital in Springfield. Their parents also were treated at a hospital for smoke inhalation.
Investigators haven't determined the cause of the fire.
