(AP) -- DECATUR, Ill. (AP) -- A Decatur, Illinois doctor has a ring that proves he's part of the St. Louis Cardinals World Series win last season.
The Herald and Review reports that Doctor Wendell Becton is wearing a World Series ring that he earned as a team physician with the Cardinals. The ring has 103 diamonds and 50 custom-cut rubies. He says he keeps it locked in a vault in "an undisclosed location."
Becton says the win "was my ultimate dream in my profession." He is a sports medicine doctor at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Becton didn't receive the ring with the rest of the team at the presentation ceremony in May because he was in Germany with the Air National Guard. Instead he made a trip to St. Louis to get the ring in May.
