Run, bike, and swim. What many might call torture, Ironkids athlete Michael Mitsynski calls a walk in the park.
"I did really good, I train a lot and run"
Michael is a champ, no doubt, but he says it never hurts to have someone to push you along the way.
"There's this guy named Issac, and we always compete against one another. In the run, he always beats me, but I beat him at the swimming and the bike."
Organizers say that this is the spirt of the Ironkids Triathalon: competition and fitness.
"Ironkids is similar to the Ironman Triathalon, it's just a little scaled down version that the kids can handle, and they compete for national recognition for trophies, to see who the best iron kids in the country, and this is one of the qualifying events for it," said Brent Heinzn, HyVee Event Organizer.
And for Michael, having blown past the competition paid off.
"Yes, I will do this next year, and my parents found out that I'm going to the nationals"
As they say, ironkids medalist one day, olympic medalist the next.
