Belle police arrest suspect connected with burglaries, car theft

BELLE, Mo. – The Belle Police Department has arrested one suspect connected with a string of burglaries and one instance of car theft in Belle, Missouri.

On Saturday, police arrested 29-year-old Denene Gehlert of Belle on Burglary in the Second Degree and Stealing.

 They believe Gehlert and another male suspect had involvement in three houses that were burglarized on June 15th ,as well as items taken from a car on South Alvarado Street in Belle.

Among the items taken from the homes were a chainsaw, a saw-zall, a sub-woofer, and other miscellaneous items. Police later recovered several of these items from Canaan Pawn Shop in Bland, Missouri.

 Police also recovered a cooler, clothes, and other items stolen from the car when they arrested Gehlert.

Gehlert is currently being held in Maries County jail on $60,000 bond. Police are still looking for a second suspect who remains at large.
