A suspicious vehicle in a private drive on Highway E in Rich Fountain prompted a call to the Osage County Sheriff's Department on June 6.

When authorities arrived, a man ran from the vehicle and into the woods nearby.

A woman found near the vehicle was detained and questioned. She was identified as Brenda Stringer 41, from Freeburg.

Deputies called for the Osage County K-9 unit to try to find the man.

The K-9 unit tracked him and located him hiding by a pond in tall grass. He was identified as Kenneth McMullin 34, of Meta, and was taken into custody on an outstanding no-bond warrant out of Osage County for failure to appear on a domestic assault charge.

The subsequent investigation also resulted in Stringer being arrested for possession of a controlled substance and is being held pending the filing of formal charges.
