Credit union robber escaped into woods

A robbery occurred at 1:07 p.m. at Academic Employee Credit Union, which is located on Ash Street in Columbia.

The suspect gave the cashier a note demanding money and implied he had a gun on him. The cashier did not actually see a gun.

He is described as a
 black male wearing a long-sleeve dark shirt, blue jeans and a ball cap. His height is 6'2" to 6'4" and he appears to be in his mid to late twenties.

9 Highway Patrol dog is trying to track him and a Columbia Police Department dog is on the way.

At this time, there is n
o way to know if this robbery is related to other incidents.

Surveillance pictures are not yet available.

Paxton Keeley Elementary, Fairview Elementary and Smithton Middle were briefly placed on lockdown.
