Mid-Missouri was a little more glamorous Saturday evening, as the Miss Missouri 2012 pageant was held in Mexico.
Young women from all across the state came to show off not only their looks, but their talents and true character.
While many might think being Miss Missouri is a glamorous job, someone who knows a thing or two about the pageant says it takes know how and a blue-collar work ethic.
"[That's] a common misconception,” said Miss Missouri 2011 Sydney Friar. “The job of Miss Missouri is truly that. It's a very busy full-time job. It's a service job, and primarily what we do is public speaking, mostly in our school systems. It's definitely a community service job, and that's what we want people to know."
Saturday was the final contest in the Miss Missouri competition. out of 27 girls, only one would walk away with the crown of miss Missouri.
