The Columbia City Council unanimously approved an Enhanced Enterpise Zone Board Monday night.
The council approved it after about 2-hours of public comment.
Council members heard from citizens about removing the Blight designation from the part of the city.
The council wanted the Blight designation to become part of the state's Enhanced Enterprise Zone.
Mayor Bob McDavid appointed five board members during the meeting Monday night.
The council also tackled another issue, an ordinance that will both eliminate and create dozens of city positions.
The personnel changes are part of a plan to save millions in the city's budget.
