Two people were taken to the Callaway County Jail Monday after a trooper’s k-9 unit found 22 pounds of marijuana in their car.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a trooper stopped the car Joe Garza, 54, and his passenger, Patricia Sanchez, 48, were riding in near the 142-mile marker on Interstate 70.

The trooper used his K-9 unit to search the vehicle.

The unit found 22 pounds of marijuana concealed in a tool box under sand in the cargo area of the 2006 Nissan.

Garza and Sanchez, both of Pueblo, CO, were arrested and charged with felony possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute.

They are being held at the Callaway County Jail until the posting of bond.
