The demolition process has started for a landmark in Osage City.

MoDOT and Union pacific crews brought out the ball and crane today and started their work on tearingapart two structures along the Osage River, one of those, the famous “leaning tower of Osage City”.

The bridge will be for another railroad track going across the river.

Many local resident to watch and chat about their beloved landmark going down, although many said it was about time that it was taken down.

"Right now, we're just doing the start up phases. Obviously as you can see in the background, they're tearing down the existing structures. The project consists of putting another bridge over the Osage River," said Larry Ison,a project manager with Union Pacific.

MoDOT says the buildings should be completely demolished within a couple of weeks.
