One person is behind bars and two others are on the loose after a regular traffic stop went bad Monday night.

Boone County Sheriff’s Department says their Traffic Enforcement Unit tried to pull over a car Monday night in the 400 block of Scott Boulevard, but once the vehicle stopped three black males exited the car and fled on foot.

Later the Columbia Police Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol located one the passengers and arrested him.

Police arrested Maurice Penny Jr. for unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a defaced firearm, and resisting a lawful detention.

Penny Jr. is out on bond.

Police are still trying to figure out the identities of the other two individuals.
