Ebony Williams, 24, Suspect
An argument quickly turned serious this afternoon at a gas station at the corner of Saint Charles Road and Clark avenue east of Columbia.
"A call came out that a man and a woman were arguing on the parking lot of the convenience store, and a shot was fired," said Boone County Detective Tom O'Sullivan.
Police say witnesses saw the shot fired from a brown SUV. Authorities later recovered a pistol down the road which they think was involved in the incident.
24-year-old Ebony Williams later turned herself into police and was charged.
The shooting is simply the latest in a string of similar incidents around Columbia. Detective O'Sullivan says it's the result of people acting on short tempers.
"I think just the availability of firearms, and younger people are quicker to pull out a gun and use it," said O'Sullivan.
This shots fired incident happened just days after a similar gun-related situation at Douglass Park in Columbia.
In addition to illegal gun charges, Williams faces two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, due to two little girls, ages 4 and 5, being in her vehicle at the time.
No one was hurt, although police do believe that the man's car was damaged.
